On 19 August, at the end of the Riga Festival, the Baltic Drum Summit took place on the 11 November Embankment, bringing together more than 300 drummers from different countries. The summit culminated in an evening concert where all the drummers played together to a variety of rhythms and popular songs.
The Baltic Drum Summit is the only drumming gathering not only in the Baltics, but also in Northern Europe, organized by the Andžejs Grauds’s Drum School! The Summit features a variety of activities for drummers and visitors, culminating in an evening concert where more than 300 drummers will perform a variety of rhythms and songs in synchrony.
In 2017, the Summit was included in the “Latvia 100” events programme, marking Latvia’s birthday louder than anywhere else and generating even more public interest. As part of Latvia’s centenary, the repertoire of the 4th Baltic Drum Summit will also include Latvian composers and folk songs in modern arrangements.
